This year too the Salone del Mobile is completely sold out, testament to the fact that it is an unmissable event, not just for the companies involved, but also for the operators and visitors. A global platform for all the latest in home furnishing, the Salone is gearing its 53rd edition to innovation and internationality. Exhibitors from other countries continue to multiply accounting for almost 30% of the total underscoring the prestige of an event that is as well known all over the world as it is in Italy.
The Salone del Mobile is a valuable resource for the Italian home furnishing sector − Cosmit President Claudio Luti said because of its ability to attract operators, visitors, designers, buyers and journalists from all over the world, who flock here to see cutting edge innovation and high-end products, and because of the exhibiting manufacturers, who combine innovation with excellence, as well as being a prestigious cultural event".
Bolstering this international role, the Salone del Mobile 2014 is launching its Welcome Project, organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and the city’s Department of Fashion and Design, with input from the Milan schools: Domus Academy, the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), the NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano and the Milan Polytechnic University/Design School. In partnership with the Milan Fairgrounds, the Airport Authority (SEA) and Milan’s Transport Agency (ATM), posts are being set up at focal points throughout the city (Malpensa Airport T1 and T2, Linate Airport, the Central Station, MMCadorna, MMGaribaldi, MMDuomo, MMSan Babila, MMRho Fiera, the Triennale and La Rinascente), where 100 students will be deployed, armed with Samsung tablets uploaded with the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2014 App and links to the ATM site, in order to provide visitors with useful information on moving around the city, accessing the Fairgrounds and all the initiatives forming part of the Palimpsest of events in Milan organised by the Department of Fashion and Design.
